A Hellgirl's Diary Part 7

That was fantasy. This was reality. It didn’t make sense for all of them to be coincidences. All the abnormal incidents and accidents don’t happen that often. Even if they do, they can’t happen around that one particular person.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to mull it over as we’d already reached the hospital. Unbuckling my seat belt, I hurried out of the car and yelled and nurses and doctors. Thankfully, the responded and Leonard was wheeled into the emergency wad.

Minutes later, a nurse came up to Aaron and I and said, ‘We’ve contacted his family. Thank you for sending him here.’

‘How’s his condition?’ asked Aaron.

‘He’s lost a lot of blood and some muscle tissues were damaged but you sent him here just in time. He’ll be fine,’ said the nurse.

‘Okay, thank you.’

There was only silence as we made our way to Aaron’s car. Neither one of us wanted to talk. I can’t deny it, my heart, a part of it, was leaping with joy.

‘Where do you live?’

I turned to look at Aaron, frowning.

‘I’ll walk back.’

‘Is it nearby?’

Well, if you consider 10 miles near then yes, it’s near.

‘No, actually. But I’ll manage.’

‘Just tell me where you live. I’ll send you back,’ Aaron was persistent.

It wasn’t even a request. It was an order. Annoyed, I glared at him.

‘I may have been ignored all my life, but it doesn’t mean you can talk to me in that tone,’ I snapped.

To my surprise, Aaron’s expression softened. Although I might’ve been imagining it. He sighed heavily.

‘Sorry. I’m a little worn out. Just, please, do me a favor and let me send you back. I wouldn’t want you to get kidnapped or anything.’

‘You gotta be kidding me. People refuse to even walk on the same pavement as me, let alone kidnap me.’

Aarons frowned and folded his arms.

‘However, your apology is accepted and thanks for the offer,’ I added. Aaron smiled.

‘I’ll take that as a yes, then.’

Getting into his car, I started wondering, even now as I’m writing this, I’m wondering… Perhaps, my bad luck’s finally running out. And this guy, Aaron, will actually be able to make a change in my current miserable life.

‘So, where to?’ asked Aaron, interrupting my thoughts.

’13, Star Road 3E/13.’

‘That’s just at the back of my place.’

I turned to look at him, frowning.

‘Then why haven’t I seen you before?’

With a glint in his eye, Aaron said, ‘Maybe I didn’t want to be seen.’

I frowned harder. ‘You’ve been stalking me?’

‘I was just joking. I came back from England two days ago.’

‘Come back? For what?’

And with that, Aaron smiled. ‘That is private and confidential.’

Rolling my eyes, I leaned back, not bothering press for any more details. Thoughts flooded my mind again. The events of these 2 days, my “bad” luck, Aaron’s sudden appearance in my life…

‘Here. 13, Star Road 3E/13,’ said Aaron, bringing my floating mind back to earth.

‘Thanks,’ I said, meaning it.

‘I’ll pick you up tomorrow.’

Just when I was actually starting to not mind him talking to me, he makes me mad and agitated again. I turned and glared at him.

‘It’s only a 10-minute walk from here,’ I snarled.

‘I know. But you always leave 2 hours earlier to avoid everyone so I’ll do you a favor and fetch you.’

Raising my eyebrows, I folded my arms.

‘I really don’t understand you.’

‘Doesn’t matter. Just say yes and I’ll get out of your sight.’

‘If I don’t?’ I challenged.

‘I’ll sit in my car and wait for you till tomorrow morning,’ he smirked.

‘You’re gonna kill me, you know that?’

I got out of the car and slammed the door. Getting my keys out, I unlocked the door and climbed the stairs which led directly to my room. It was so I wouldn’t bump into any of my family members.

Exhausted from the day’s events, I quickly showered and undressed. Not bothering with my homework, I sat down at my desk and began writing.

And now, I really cannot continue or my fingers will detach themselves from my hand. Then again, that would be doing me a favor.

A Hellgirl's Diary Part 6

‘We have to get him to the hospital. Someone call the ambulance!’ he ordered.

The whole class left. Including Mrs. Olivia, who looked as if she was going to faint any minute.

‘The ambulance wouldn’t be fast enough,’ I told him, in a matter-of-fact tone.

‘We’ll take the scissors out first, then.’

‘Good luck with that.’

For a minute there, I actually wanted to believe he would be able to pull it out.

‘It’s stuck. Come and help.’

I looked at him sharply.

‘You gotta be kidding me. I’ll only make it worse,’ I said. ‘Have you already forgotten I’m what caused this mishap?’

Now he turned and glared at me.

‘So you’re gonna sit there and watch him die,’ he said in a tone that felt as if he was telling me that’s what I should do. ‘You didn’t cause this. You didn’t even move when he tripped or when the scissors landed inside him.’

‘I breathed. That’s bad enough.’

‘So you’re going to do nothing about it? Even if it might save his life?’

‘It wouldn’t be the first time.’

But despite what I said, I couldn’t bear to watch Leonard just die. Maybe, maybe just this once, I can actually save someone.

‘Can’t believe I’m doing this,’ I murmured, kneeling next to Lucky Dude.

‘Here, hold the handle. One the count of three. 1, 2, THREE!’

The handles flew off. Lucky Dude’s eyes narrowed. My heart sank, predicting the worst.

‘Try again. Grab the ends.’

I did as he instructed.

‘Okay. 1, 2, Three!’

Miraculously, it came out, fully stained with blood. Leonard screamed. Ignoring him, Lucky Dude took his shirt off and wrapped it around Leonard’s thigh to momentarily stop the bleeding.

‘Go check if the ambulance is here.’

I walked out into the hallway. As I’d predicted, not a soul was around. And I bet they didn’t bother calling the ambulance either. Why would they? Too many lost causes, thanks to me…

Frustrated, I walked back into the classroom.

‘No one’s around.’

Aaron swore (I’m getting tired of writing “Lucky Dude” all the time). Leonard stopped screaming but had a steady flow of tears falling.

‘We’ll send him to the hospital ourselves, then. Help me lift him up.’

I put Leonard’s left arm over my shoulder, wincing as his weight were causing my muscles to tense up.

‘You drive to school?’

‘My question was left unanswered as we half carried-dragged Leonard towards the car park.

‘We’ll put him at the back seat. Can you support him for a while?’

‘Do I have a choice?’

I nearly stumbled as all of Leonard’s weight leaned on me, but I held my ground as Aaron unlocked the door. We managed to get Leonard in without breaking his leg.

‘Get in.’

Aaron was determined, speeding along the roads, ignoring hoots from other vehicles.

‘I don’t wanna die… I don’t wanna die…’

‘You’re not gonna die. Have faith,’ snapped Aaron. Leonard whimpered.

Millions of thoughts rushed through my head. Was the curse finally lifting? Maybe everything that’s happened were all coincidences? Maybe I’m normal after all.
